Two Weeks Away

Hi Everyone!

I know we’ve been missing in action on the blog over the last few weeks but we are currently away on two weeks holiday taking Black Betty on her maiden camping trip! As I write this we have been away for nearly a week and are currently enjoying a few nights stop at Lawn Hill National Park.

The boys have gone canoeing this morning and Lexi, Kipp and I are relaxing in the shade at the national park and making the most of the first internet/reception we have come across.

We are really, really happy with our new camper and can’t wait to fill you all in on our adventures when we get back in a bit over a week! Continue reading

Sunday Snapshot – Cairns Ironman Event

Yes, I’m posting our Sunday Snapshot two days late, on Tuesday this week, cause, that’s how I roll at the moment – late, a bit unorganised, but we get there in the end!

Our Sunday this week was spent volunteering at the Cairns Ironman Event with the boy’s Scout Group.  We took the opportunity to spend the night before the event in Cairns, doing a bit of shopping, visiting Poppy and Rema and having a dinner out – a real treat! Continue reading

Electrifying Black Betty

So, as I said in my last post, we have done a few things to get Black Betty a bit more up to scratch. I spent 2 days with my dad (he’s a sparky) “Electify-ing” BB. She did have an anderson cable for charging, but it was 4mm2 cable, she had a battery but it had dropped a cell and was not accepting any charge, and she had 2 ciggy plug outlets but they were wired up with wire as thin as hair, I was not happy plugging in the new BIG fridge into these outlets so we made some changes.

Introducing Black Betty – House on Wheels Take 2

I know Jess has already ‘introduced’ Black Betty but I thought it was time to do it properly…. i.e. Blokey-ly….

So settle in for another one of my monster posts. (I don’t post often, I just post BIG)

First up, Stats:

Make: All Terrain Camper Trailer (ATC)

Year: 2009

Model: 17′ Full Off Road with upgraded deluxe kitchen and ‘Moon Roof” otherwise it is bog standard (well, it was….)

No disrespect to Karen Camper, living in her during our big trip was very comfortable, but there were times when we faced a decision whether to take a certain road or not, based on if we felt Karen would make it. Jess and I do not like being limited like that, if we want to go somewhere or do something, then nothing is stopping us.

Taking Stock- June 2014

DSC_0097It’s the middle of the year already and I’m feeling a bit out of whack.  I’ve gotten slack with lots of things; blogging, meal planning; buying instead of baking, grocery shopping too often, not reading to the kids, not keeping on top of homework, not exercising, eating too much junk etc, etc, etc – I’ve lost my mojo a bit and am feeling slack, sluggish and unorganised  I don’t like it!

So, tonight I’m ‘Taking Stock’ again using Pip’s list.   Continue reading

Carisbrooke Station

Hi Everyone! I’m just reblogging this Carisbrooke Station post from our trip last June as the photos I uploaded originally while we were on the road were way too small. We had such a great time there with all the family! I wonder if it is still this dry now? Anybody been out to Carisbrooke Station recently??

'Are We There Yet?'

DSC_0726On our second day at Carisbrooke Station we decided to join in with some of the Grey Nomads on their station tour. Station owner Charles guided us to Python Canyon where we had a short but fairly steep walk down to see some Aboriginal paintings. It was nice to visit something so interesting in a fairly non-commercial setting.

Off for a hike to Python Gorge to see some Aboriginal Paintings

All the kids walked down & back up by themselves and so did the Grandparents!

From there we went on to the station’s private opal mine. Of course with Grammy & Grunda with us we were keen to do some fossicking and Charles was happy just to leave us there…
